CONVENTION OFFERING

175th Anniversary Offering

We rejoice that over the past 175 years, our Savior has taken our synod from three congregations in the greater Milwaukee area to more than 1,200 congregations across North America, from one seminary in 1865 to a four school ministerial education system, and from one world mission in 1893 to conducting and encouraging gospel outreach in 49 countries and exploring opportunities in 16 other fields.

Join WELS in a special anniversary offering to give thanks to our Lord for the blessings of our history and to support future ministry work.

In thanks for Christ’s past blessings, a gift to fund future ministry

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.” —Ephesians 1:3

WELS is coordinating a special anniversary offering to not only give thanks to our Lord for the blessings of our history but also to fund the goals set in our next long-range (ten-year) strategic plan with the expectation that Jesus will do more than all we ask or imagine.

Gifts to the WELS 175th Anniversary Fund will support:

  • North American Ministry (Home Missions, Congregational Services)
  • International ministry (World Missions)
  • Worker training (Ministerial Education)

Consider making a tax-wise gift of appreciated assets or a qualified charitable distribution from your IRA (if 70.5 and older). Contact your local WELS Christian giving counselor for assistance.

Visit WELS Historical Institute to learn more about the 175th Anniversary and special offering progress.

Worship

The 2025 synod convention appropriately begins with worship. May the Lord bless us as we praise his name and proclaim his gospel to one another, gaining strength as Christ works in us through Word and sacrament that Christ may continue to work through us in the world.

Book of Reports and Memorials

The primary source of the convention’s business is the Book of Reports and Memorials (BORAM), which contains various departmental reports as well as formal petitions to the synod convention called “memorials.”
